Also called Apologia's Young Explorers Series
by Jeannie Fullbright

This series explores creatures of flight from the 5th day of creation. Jeannie covers everything from classification (birds, insects, and bats), to the mechanics of flight to an in depth study of insects and bats. Children do experiments which further enrich the learning experience. The bird experiments include such things as how to attract various bird species to your yard, how to identify birds by looking at their special physical characteristics, diverse nests, and interesting domestic practices. There are multiple insect and bat experiments as well.

REVIEW
We LOVE this series. Jeannie Fulbright is such a great teacher and author. The topics are engaging and written so that multiple ages can enjoy and engage in them. We love sitting on the couch reading this book together. It is one of our favorite things to do in our homeschool!

The books were written with the idea that you explore each subject in depth. They are designed to read together (or older students could read them independently).Older and younger students hear the same information at the same time. You then adjust assignments as appropriate for ability level but you all learn the same topics together. I love that concept. We have had such great times reading the chapters together, discussing them and then doing an experiment, a journal entry or a narrative.

This series in unabashedly Christian. It is written from the perspective that the Bible is true and God created the world in 7 days (6 really... :) ). Jeannie debunks evolutionary theories in every chapter. She is constantly giving glory to God and pointing out how magnificent His creation is. It is fantastic! I found it so hard to find a science curriculum that is not only from a Biblical perspective but is also fun and engaging. This series is both. The pictures are vibrant and the information is fascinating. Jeannie's website has many resources such as narration pages and vocabulary terms to download for free.

We can't wait to start another one of her books! I highly, highly recommend Jeannie Fulbright's books!
