Here you will find what is going on with our local
Homeschooling Co-op,
"Discovery Group."
Feel free to check back and see what we are doing. If you are part of our Omaha, NE group, this is the place to check for information discussed at our last meeting or to check the details of that field trip coming up. For those of you who are not members of our group or have connected with our site from a different geographical point, use this area as a place to get ideas for starting your own support group. All you need is some willingness to host a group, a few other homeschooling mommies, and some ideas to get you started. Once you begin, new members will be calling, and your own group will get started.

A basic description of our group is that we are a group of Christian Homeschooling mommies who are seeking to encourage, support, and equip one another in the areas of our children's education and homemaking. We meet once a month in the evenings (just mommies) to plan events and swap ideas. We also meet twice a month for one hour with our children at a local community center for some play time in a gym. We split the cost of the gym reservation among the families participating. Additionally,we have atleast one field trip a month for the group. Again, these are planned and organized by different mommies so no one person has to bear the entire load.

These different types of meetings allow us to have a "night out" and talk as adults, as well as provide time for our children to get to know one another and be a member of a community.
