by: Teri Maxwell

This short but powerful book by Teri Maxwell is one of my favorite books that I read in 2006. Teri discusses openly her struggles with anger and depression, fear and worry, disorganization.

She talks about how the Lord delivered her years of depression and the methods she uses to this day to combat emotions that start to overwhelm her. She gives practical advice on topics of which so many women I know (including myself!) struggle.

Teri's open, honest and frank discussions of her struggles really struck a chord with me. Here is a women who has been (and still is) in the trenches. She understands the fear homeschoolers face, the hopelessness that the drudgery of housework and sick kids can bring on, the guilt and worry/fear of not being the mother or wife or homeschooler we want to be. She has been there and, through the Lord, has found ways to not just survive but to thrive.

Teri's sweet and gentle prodding seems so honest because she walks the walk. This book was like water to my soul. Such encouragement. Plus, it is short! There is a great deal of information packed into those few pages though. Take your time and savor this book. If you are willing, it will change you.
