A unit study series using literature as a basis for each unit. Units include lesson plans for language arts, science, social studies, art and some simple math. This series does not include extensive math or phonics lessons. Designed for ages 4-8.

REVIEW
We really enjoyed this curriculum. It is a literature based unit study mostly for social studies, science and language arts. You will need to supplement it with a math and phonics program. (It will not teach your kids how to read.) The stories are sweet and many are classical. We were familiar with some of the stories but others were new to us. If you choose to you can start at story one in volume one and work your way through the books. This is not how I chose to use this curriculum. I chose stories to do based on our interest and/or the time of year. I also used the lessons as a springboard for ideas for other lessons. You can adapt this curriculum to whatever style suits your needs. It is easy to pick up and start or put away for a few weeks/months as your schedule demands.

I especially enjoyed doing this curriculum with my young children, ages 3-5, because we love to read together. It was sweet to just sit and read to the kids and then do a fun but educational lesson about that story. Mrs. Lambert gives great ideas on a variety of topics and I could tailor the lessons to each child's ability so it worked well for a mulit-age situation.
I highly recommend this curriculum for early elementary.

I have enjoyed using the FIAR curriculum and now she has come out with Vol. 4 which includes the Bible supplement. Do you have a direct link to FIAR so I can give you wonderful ladies credit for this awesome site? Vol 4 is not available on Amazon and can not be order through my regular source Barnes and Noble.(I don't have to pay shipping there and teachers get a discount)

www.ChristianBook.com usually has the Five in a Row books at a good price. Also if you use the link at the top of this review they give us (Teaching With Joy) a referral fee.
