The following recipe is a fun St. Patricks Day breakfast or snack to make in the month of March. We like to commemorate St. Patricks Day by learning about St. Patrick's story and the country he brought the gospel to...Ireland of course! Making this recipe is one way to get a little taste of Ireland.

Irish Soda Bread

4 Cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 Cup sugar
3/4 C butter
1 Cup raisins
1 TBSP. caraway seeds
1 1/3 Cup buttermilk

*sift dry ingredients into a large bowl *cut butter into dry ingredients *stir in raisins, caraway seeds *gradually add buttermilk and mix *knead about 2 minutes on a floured surface *divide in half and shape into balls *flatten slightly with hand and cut a shallow cross into the top of each loaf *bake on a cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 1 hour, until lightly browned on the top
