Teaching With JoyChristmas ... King of the Stable | ||
|
written by Melody Carlson and illustrated by Chris Ellison takes you back to the day of Jesus’ birth. A boy named Matthew has to leave his wealthy home for a time to live with his uncle. His uncle lives in Bethlehem and is the keeper of an inn. Matthew’s job is to take care of the animals in the stable. Matthew’s cousins tease him by calling him king of the stable because of his expensive clothes. Along comes Joseph with Mary about to give birth. Matthew suggests that they stay in the stable for the night because all the inns in Bethlehem are full. Matthew cares for Mary and Joseph and baby Jesus even giving up his own blankets. Matthew is forever changed by his encounter with Jesus, God’s son.
