by Morteza E. Sohi

This Nature Craft book is a great companion to Lois Ehert's Leaf Man. It does not have a story line. It is more of a 'how to' book on making animal shapes from fall leaves. The author gives specific do's and don'ts on how to prepare the leaves as well as how to design a variety of animals and nature scenes fashioned out of leaves. Some of the animals include frogs, roosters, owls, parrots, cows and butterflies.

We really enjoyed looking at the pictures in this book and then trying it out ourselves. The designs were really interesting and ranged from fairly simple to pretty complicated. The pictures truly did spark ideas in my own kids on how we could make an animal out of leaves and made our nature walks a bit more purposeful. The writing in this book is easy to follow, not complex.

This is a fun book to use as a craft idea in the fall! It fit perfectly into our unit on leaves and fall. The projects in this book are appropriate for a range of ages all the way from preschool to adult depending on the complexity of the animal you choose.
