Meet the Pilgrims is an easy to read story about the how the Pilgrims came to settle in America. It describes how they came to the decision to leave Europe, their harrowing ocean journey, the terrible first winter, and finally the bountiful harvest and the first Thanksgiving.

REVIEW
This is an old book that I came across at a used book sale. It is a wonderful book for early readers (1st-3rd grade level). It is a chapter book but the words are big and easy to read. It includes many details of the Pilgrims' story that are difficult to find in current children's literature.

We enjoyed this book immensely. We first read it together and later my son enjoyed reading it alone. I found it difficult to locate quality, detailed accounts of the Pilgrim story that were appropriate for my boys to read independently. So many books that were classified easy reading just skimmed the surface of the Pilgrim's story. This book really supplies details I didn't find in many other current children's literature on this topic. The somewhat dated illustrations add charm to the book. We really enjoyed 'Meet the Pilgrims' and plan on reading it again each Thanksgiving!

This book is copyrighted in 1966 but at last check you could still buy it on Amazon.

Happy reading!
