Level 1, Animal Antics, contains 10 phonics based books and focuses on short vowel sounds, simple consonant sounds and beginning sight words. Level 2, has 10 stories with long and short vowels, simple consonant and sight word practice. Level 3 introduces new, more complex vowel sounds, consonant blends and longer words and sentences. Level 4 and Level 5 work on advanced word skills, silent letters, compound words, contractions and more challenging vocabulary.

This is a wonderful series for beginning readers.The Now I'm Reading books are fun stories with colorful illustrations. Best of all they contain simple words that my beginning readers were able to decode. My kids were thrilled to find books they could actually read!! So often it seems early reader books contain words that a beginning reader can not decode but that is not the case in these books. Each story is full of the skill listed at the front of the story (for example all short 'a' words). Another fun addition to this series is that the books come with 4 matching stickers for each story for the child to use after he/she has read the story aloud. My kids loved to 'tally' their special story stickers after reading a story. The stories and the stickers really gave them a sense of accomplishment. I HIGHLY recommend this series.
