Lois Ehlert uses a variety of materials to illustrate a sugar maple's life cycle. Ms. Ehlert is a beautiful writer/illustrator. Her pages are full of warm autumn colors as well as the lovely greens of spring. In addition to the information regarding the tree itself she also includes information on several varieties of birds as well as providing further details on the biology and upkeep of trees. This is a fun book to use in the fall or for Arbor Day!

Lois Ehlert is one of our favorite picture book authors because her illustrations are so beautiful and seasonal. Her artistry really brings one's imagination to life! I haved based several lessons around her books.
