Tales of the Kingdom, Tales of the Resistance and Tales of the Restoration by David and Karen Mains have to be my all time favorite children's books. I have read these books several times and love them more after each reading. These books are an allegory of what the Kingdom of God is like. There is a place called Great Park where everyone who wants a places has a place and is loved and healed by Merci. Great Park is ruled by the King. The King was exiled from the Enchanted City where the evil Enchanter rules. The Enchanter rules with fire and everyone is forced to sleep during the day and work at night. Each chapter demonstrates a different aspect of what the Kingdom of God looks like and how we are a part of God’s Kingdom. Each chapter stands alone as a story but is connected to the entire trilogy. These books are fun to read with upper elementary aged children. If you can find the hardcover copies the illustrations are wonderful.
