Teaching With JoyHistory ... Tapenum's Day: A Wampanoag Indian Boy in Pilgrim Times | ||
|
by Kate Waters
A good companion to Samuel Eaton's Day and Sarah Morton's Day, this book tells of life for the Wampanoag Indians in the 1600's. It is different from these two other books by Kate Waters in that Tapenum was not an actual historical figure. A description of the story from amazon.com reads: "In the fictionalized story, young Tapenum, disappointed that he has not yet been chosen to become a warrior, hunts for food, shoots a rabbit for his mother, and goes fishing with a companion. Later he befriends a wise man, who teaches him about making arrows and learning patience.
