Teaching With JoyEaster ... The Tale of the Three Trees | ||
|
The Tale of Three Trees is a traditional Folktale retold by Angela Elwell Hunt. It is a beautiful story of three trees who dream of being great things. One wants to be a treasure chest, another a great ship and the third wants to point the way to God. Three woodcutters come and chop down the three trees. One becomes a feed box, another a small boat and the other holds Jesus on the cross. All of them find that they did become what they wanted to become because Jesus is the greatest treasure, the boat carries Jesus across the lake and the other points the way to God by being the cross.
The illustrations by Tim Jonke are beautiful and detailed. This is an excellent book for reminding us that God's plans are bigger than our own and a great story to share the during Easter. Comments:
Amy,
This book sounds like a beautiful story of God's grand design. Do you have a copy of The Tale of The Three Trees? If so, could we borrow it sometime? Also, on your post on The Tale of Three Trees, did you mean to say "It is a beautiful story of three trees" instead of "It is a beautiful story of tree trees who dream of being great things"? Sorry if I come across as being critical, it's definitely not my intent. It's just the trained eye of a teacher. Besides, my dad is a publisher, writer and editor so not much escapes my notice having been raised with the mindset of "There's always room for improvement & revision." I pray that the Lord blesses your weekend and your heart through Jesus. Love in His Name, Anne This post has 3 feedbacks awaiting moderation... Leave a comment:
